Merapi Mountain


Vacation Star | Merapi Mountain | Merapi Mountain, which is also known as the Merapi or volcano has a height 2891.3 m above sea level. As one of the most active volcano in Sumatra, Merapi has erupted frequently.


As from the late 18th century until 2008 there were approximately 454 times already erupted, 50 of them on a large scale, while the rest on a small scale by removing the ash sulfur.

Among the many mountains in western Sumatra, Merapi Mountain is a tourist attraction frequented by tourists. Merapi Mountain have a fixed path for hikers, climbers making it easier to make the climb. On this mountain, there is a growing interest edelwis blooming around the slopes of the mountain, which adds to the beautiful view of Merapi Mountain.

 

Merapi Mountain is located partly in Agam district and partly in Tanah Datar regency, West Sumatra, Indonesia. To reach the foot of Merapi Mountain is quite easy, since it is situated not far from the town of Bukittinggi and Padang Panjang. From Padang or Ketaping airport to Merapi Mountain, it took about 2 hours to get to the location. Whereas if you departed from the town of Bukittinggi it took about 30 minutes. Transportation to reach the site can be reached by road, can use public transport or travel.
