Jamik Mosque

 

Vacation Star | Jamik Mosque | Jamik Mosque is located on the main street of Bengkulu city and is a memento of Bung Karno, during his exile, and also as an architect, building the mosque which is still actively used has a Limas shaped roof and describe the marriage of local culture, thionghoa culture and Islamic culture. The mosque is located just down the road Soeprapto right in the center of the city of Bengkulu.


Jamik Mosque is located at an altitude of 20 m above sea level. Located 1.2 miles from Fort Marlborough, with a tilt angle of 112o (Darmansyah 2002). In the nineteenth century mosque building a simple form with buildings made of wood and thatched. In the early twentieth century to build the mosque community is getting better with their own resources. In 1938, the mosque building redesigned by Bung Karno costs borne by society itself. Bung Karno as the architect of the building is not changed as a whole, only certain parts are changed and added. Bung Karno provide the hallmark on the roof to form a conical pyramid roof by providing a gap in the middle of the roof as an architectural touch of its own. In some parts of the building plus a pole with carvings and sculptures shaped tendrils on top, and painted with gold color.
